LET US HELP YOU WITH THE APPLICATION PROCESS

Kristin Tissera

Hi! My name is Kristin Tissera and I am currently a third year medical student at Duke University. I completed my undergraduate degree in Biology and Anthropology at Tufts University in 2020, and took one gap year before medical school. During my gap year, I traveled to Singapore to do research on a Fulbright scholarship.I am currently spending Duke’s built-in research year at Mass General doing research in the pediatric dermatology department, and hope to eventually be a pediatric dermatologist.

I have been working as an admissions coach for The Brem Method for the past four years, and have been successful in helping my one on one coaching students be accepted into medical schools, both MD and DO, that fit their needs best. As someone interested in research, choosing to go to Duke gave me the privilege of having built-in research experience - similarly, I aim to help my students find schools that align with their interests, with opportunities available that will put them on track to meet their career goals.

Jake Alexander

Hello! My name is Jake Alexander and I am currently a second year medical student at the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine (UNECOM). I’m originally from Newton, MA, and completed my undergraduate education at Union College, majoring in Biology.

During my gap years, I first worked as a research technician in a cardiology lab at the Brigham and Womens, then ultimately transitioned to becoming a medical assistant and personal trainer. I would consider my route to medical school as being somewhat non-traditional, but ultimately decided that an Osteopathic education aligned nicely with my personal values and overarching philosophy of patient care.

I have been working as an assistant coach for The Brem Method for the past 2 years, primarily focusing on MCAT preparation. However, in these courses I always felt that my niche was providing insight on the admissions process in one-on-one office hours. My hope with this workshop is that Kristin and myself can provide each student with a tangible, organized, and targeted plan to tackle the medical school admissions process, while simultaneously helping students find the RIGHT program to align with their individual journey.

Lastly, my ultimate career goal is to go into Primary Care/Sports Medicine, and I am happy to answer any questions about these pathways during the course.
